Mike Greene, the very nice man who signs my paycheck, has been taking lessons and playing the bag pipe. See his piping journal at http://mpgreene.blogware.com/blog.
Since I was young I have found the sound of bag pipes to be, both, soothing and energizing. My mother's family was Scottish and as a child I dreamed that my Grandfather, Angus, played the pipes. To my knowledge he didn't and I suppose just having Scottish ancestrally doesn't make one a bag piper. Or even enjoy the sound of the pipes for that matter.
Mike lent me a stack of CD's that I ripped on to my computer and this afternoon I have been listening to bag piping and what a find that is. Even though one of my co-workers asked if I was going to listen to that all day, I found the sounds to be working for me.
One particular group I have been enjoying is Pipedown, http://www.pipedown.co.uk/. Check them out, pretty cool.
